Clinical Sports physiotherapy practice in india- its time to upgrade with technology and evidence based practice

Abstract

Introduction: Sports physiotherapy in India faces significant challenges due to barriers such as limited clinical exposure, inadequate training, and obstacles to implementing evidence-based practice (EBP). This article addresses the need to upgrade clinical practices by integrating technology and evidence-based approaches. The introduction provides an overview of the current state of sports physiotherapy in India and highlights the importance of overcoming these barriers to improve patient outcomes and elevate the standards of care. Methodology: A comprehensive review of existing literature was conducted, focusing on sports physiotherapy practice in India. Primary surveys were conducted, and key articles were identified from reputable databases such as JOSPT, PUBMED, EMBASE, and PEDRO. The methodology section outlines the search criteria, selection process, and sources used to gather information for this article. Results: The results section synthesizes the findings from the literature review and primary surveys. Key challenges facing sports physiotherapy practice in India, including limited clinical exposure, inadequate training, and barriers to implementing EBP, are discussed. Additionally, the section highlights potential solutions and strategies to address these challenges, such as integrating technology, enhancing professionalism, promoting evidence-based practice, and incorporating strength and conditioning principles. Conclusion: In conclusion, the article emphasizes the importance of adopting a multifaceted approach to enhance sports physiotherapy practice in India. By integrating technology, fostering professionalism, promoting evidence-based practice, and incorporating strength and conditioning principles, policymakers and practitioners can elevate the standards of care provided to athletes and the general population. Overcoming barriers and implementing effective strategies outlined in this article will contribute to improving patient outcomes and advancing the profession of sports physiotherapy in India.
